Our Story

Charlotte LGBTQ Elders formed in 2018 to serve as a resource for LGBTQ elders in our community aged 55+. In 2020, we continue to follow two tracks: (1) Host a monthly program or social event to bring elders together to connect and learn; and (2) Identify and promote programs with aging organizations in our region, and to become a resource for those organizations providing cultural competency training around LGBTQ elders.

Time Out Youth (EIN #56-1755564) has agreed to serve as our fiscal sponsor while we make application for our own 501(c)3 status. This allows us to collect tax-deductible contributions from the public and apply for grants. Once we have status, we plan to work towards becoming a national SAGE Chapter.

Our annual budget is less than $10,000. Expenses: state and federal filing and application fees, social media site fees, workshop presenter fees, space rental for larger events, etc. Income from: personal donations, small project grants and ticketed events.
